I just stumbled across the fact that paperless post is doing a collection... and it is perfect. Paperless post has become such a fun way make a party special, without the process of actual printed invitations. But, for those of you that are like myself, and just can't help putting yourself through that, these are able to be sent to you in the print version, which is pretty much a stationary dream come true. Here are some of my favorites!
I have loved Happy Menocal's prints ever since I saw them in my favorite boutique in Georgetown, Wink, when I first moved here 4 years ago. She has the matador's sitting in a row behind the front register, and they are adorable. I was the girl that walked awkwardly close to them to read the signature, type it into the notes section of my phone, and immediately googled when I got home. What to say about this barbecue sauce. For starters, it's amazing, delicious, and such a treat since peaches are to die for right now. Secondly, I am a condiment addict, so I have always loved barbecue sauce. Even better is that it is a condiment where it is ALMOST acceptable to eat a 1:1 ratio of sauce to meat. Almost. The third thing is that I love cooking as an activity, and barbecue sauce from scratch falls into that category. It is a great weekend project that you can enjoy for the next couple of weeks. I am thinking this will be a great annual peach season recipe of mine each summer. The biggest challenge of this recipe is definitely staring at peaches on your counter for a few days, and not eating them. Don't you dare try and use peaches that aren't extremely extremely ripe, though... it just won't be anywhere near as good! Once the lifestyle adjustments become more routine, and as soon as you start feeling better regularly, having an allergy or an intolerance becomes very liveable. The biggest challenge that have been facing recently is the bummer of not always getting to partake in different things with those around you. I definitely make a point to make better choices in restaurants or meals with others whenever I can (going out for pizza is just setting up for failure), but there are some things that I couldn't convince my family or friends to give up out of solidarity for anything in the world. In these instances, when I am left to make a meal that is completely different from everyone else, I've found there is nothing more frustrating than having whatever I'm making not be ready yet, and suddenly I am eating something not only different, but then I am also eating by myself. Sad. I started making this salmon up at the beach this summer, and ended up making it every single day for lunch while the others had their lobster rolls. It was quick, easy, and pretty delicious. No marinating, no chopping, no worry about cross-contaminated utensils, no fuss. This could be fridge to plate in under 20 minutes, which is conveniently the time it takes to order and pick up lobster rolls! This summer has been so incredibly busy with long weekend traveling, and having my short weeks spent recovering and then preparing for the next, that I had to take an unplanned hiatus for a bit! Last night, the perfect storm of having a craving for something, as well as having all of the ingredients, means I am making my comeback. |
