OCCUPATION: After receiving my bachelors degree in Economics and Art History from Denison University, I immediately went back to graduate school, pursuing a Masters in Fine Arts. I focused in Interior Design, knowing that I have always been so passionate about creating environments for people to foster their best lifestyle. While my lifestyle has evolved from college to adulthood, from pizza to salmon, and from bar parties to cocktail parties, I am learning just how important all of the details of a lifestyle are, from the grocery cart to the home, and that a good design can inspire others to live a life that nourishes them starting at the table, and ending at their home.
LOVER OF: A healthy lifestyle mixed with one too many apps and one too many glasses of wine with my girlfriends, taking the extra time to make anything prettier than it should be, my siblings, a good nights sleep, organizing and planning entirely too far in advance HOW I GOT HERE: For the past 5 years, I had been trying to figure out the cause of my unresolved health problems: a mixture of weekly migraines, a seemingly constant upset stomach, and daily swelling, pain & numbness, and discoloration in my legs and arms. It seems obvious now that these symptoms could be the result of celiac disease, a gluten sensitivity, or in my case, a wheat, barley, rye, corn, and chocolate allergies, but anyone that has gone through this process knows just how long it can take to diagnose. Auto-immune problems often overlap and fall into so many different symptom categories, which has lead me to not only pursue a gluten-free lifestyle, but also the paleo diet ... with dairy mixed in when I need to just enjoy life a little bit! Initially, the thought of this was no problem at all. I have eaten this way most of the time anyways (except for the beer aspect - still in denial), but the strict nature of this diet is what takes commitment and diligence. Over the years, I have chosen not to view my new lifestyle as a loss, but as an opportunity to challenge myself creatively beyond interior design, but also in the kitchen. I adore entertaining, cooking, baking, and just being with people. I also love all things related to design, interiors, art, clothing, you name it. Welcome to my creative outlet - that happens to include healthy recipes for everyone to enjoy. |
